Jack Agrios
Mr. Agrios has been actively involved in the field of municipal law for over 30 years, specializing in administrative law, municipal law, expropriation and development law. He has acted as counsel to numerous development corporations, including appearances at all levels to tribunals, and as solicitor to the City of Edmonton, the City of Grande Prairie and the Municipal District of Sturgeon. Mr. Agrios has held leadership roles within the Canadian and Alberta Bar associations. From 1990 to 1997 he was director of the national program and chairman of the Alberta Family and Substance Abuse Foundation and as a director and executive member of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club and the Citadel Theatre. Currently, he is member of the board of World Leisure Organization.
Mr. Agrios led Edmonton’s successful bid for the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, the first time a North American city has hosted this major international event. In 2003, Mr. Agrios was recognized for his contributions to his profession and the wider community and appointed Officer of the Order of Canada. He has also received the Silver Order of Merit for Outstanding Contribution by the International Association of Athletic Foundations; the Law Society of Alberta and Canadian Bar Association of Alberta Award for Special Contribution to the Community; Special Recognition of Honor by the Mayor of Athens, Greece; and the Alumni Award for Excellence by the University of Alberta.
