WLO enhances the exploration through research and scholarly activities of the relationship of leisure to the concept of identity, the process of transformation, and the ways in which leisure contributes to enhancing the human condition.
The programmes supported in this strategic line are: Special Interest Groups and the WL Observatory.
ADVOCACY
WLO advocates for leisure by creating and dissemination policy statements, model legislative acts and information regarding leisure benefits.
The programmes supported in this strategic line are: Global Leisure Debate, etc.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
Within this strategic working line, programs and initiatives are developed which contribute to spreading WLO’s the mission and enlarging the network.
The programmes supported in this strategic line are: WL International Innovation Prize, Thomas & Ruth Rivers International Scholarship, Hillel Rusking Memorial Scholar Lecture Award, George Torkildsen Literary Award, WL Distinguished Service Award and Newsletter – WL News.
DEVELOPMENT
Within this strategic working line, programs and initiatives are developed which contribute to spreading WLO’s the mission and enlarging the network.
The programmes supported in this strategic line are: Communities of Excellence and Strategic Priories Grants.
EDUCATION
WLO offers educational opportunities through different programs specifically targeting distinct target groups and audience, reflecting the different profiles within our membership and wider family: academics (scholars and students), professionals from the private, public and associative sectors, and the general public.
The programmes supported in this strategic line are: WL Centers of Excellence, Field School, Study Tours, Leisure Experience Research Opportunities, Early Career Research Session, WL Youth Ambassadors Programme, Youth Camps, Young People’s Leisure Network (YPLN), Young People’s Book on Leisure (YPBOL), Young People’s Concert Group (YOUPECO).
