The National Department of Sesc in Brazil carried out, from June 18 to 22, 2024, the Sesc Leisure Policy Presentation Seminar, including the participation of representatives from 27 Regional Departments. Brazilian members of the Board of Directors of the World Leisure Organization (WLO) participated in the event and presented the network to the audience.
The new Leisure Policy presented at the Seminar will be the document reference to guide Sesc’s actions in the Leisure Program, assisting in the performance of the professionals and facilitating the understanding of the role of the institution within the scope of the society and in its relations with other agents and agencies that act in the contexts in which it leisure subscribes.
In addition to the holding of the Seminar, Sesc manifests its intention to be active and participatory in the production of knowledge and promotion of leisure in Brazil and its link with national and international institutions, in particular with the World leisure Organization.
Prof. Dr. Ricardo Ricci Uvinha, for the World Leisure Center of Excellence (WLCE) at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) delivered the opening lecture “Leisure facing today’s challenges”.
Continuing the opening session of the event and in order to expand knowledge of the 27 regional departments of Sesc about the World Leisure Organization, the prof. Maria Luiza Souza Dias, memer of the Board of Directors of WLO, delivery a broad presentation starting with the history aspect of the institution going through its values and mission and its performance worldwide, with an emphasis on the various initiatives carried out to promote and advocate for leisure.
