The Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto located in Bilbao, Spain and has offered postgraduate studies and conducted research in the field of leisure (culture, tourism, sport and recreation) for over 20 years. In recognition of the work carried out during these years, they have been awarded the status of official research team by the Basque Government to study leisure as a factor of human development. This acknowledgement has made them eligible for two different calls launched by Ikerbasque, Basque Foundation for Science, which gives them the opportunity to recruit a renowned expert on leisure (culture, tourism, sport and recreation) with international experience for our team.
The Visiting Professors Call 2012 (open from 1 September to 31 October) offers fellowships with a duration between 12 and 6 months in the Basque research teams.
The University of Deusto has also launched a program for recruiting postdoctoral researchers, which is open during 2012. The candidates whose applications were accepted would join their team for a period of three years.
Dr. Christopher Edginton was the keynote presenter at the Leisure and Recreation Association of South Africa Congress held March 12 - 14, 2012 in Durban, South Africa. Other WLO Board Members and professional staff attending the event and presenting included Dr. Ming-kai Chin, Dr. Ricardo Uvinha, Dr. Jane Zhou, Dr. Luminita Georgescu, Dr. Miklos Banhidi, Dr. Lawal Marafa, Dr. Roger Coles, Maliga Naidoo, Dr. Lucetta Tsai and Dr. Iradge Ahrabi-Fard.
The World Leisure Organization (WLO) requests proposals to establish new World Leisure Center of Excellence (WLCE) programs. The required documentation of expertise and qualifications outlined in this request are intended to serve primarily as a general guide for each statement of qualifications, with the minimum requirements listed. Each college and/or university is expected to submit a fully detailed statement of qualifications, which adequately describes the advantages and benefits WLO would realize by selecting their institution. Through this Request for Proposal process WLO may select multiple intuitions to establish WLCE.
